Solar Panel Cleaning Robot with Monitoring System

The demand for renewable energy has led to an increased usage of solar panels worldwide. The efficiency of a solar panel can be greatly affected by dust, dirt among other factors, the efficiency can be restored by cleaning the panels. This cleaning process is done manually that is time consuming and costly. Manual cleaning requires man power, time, financial resources and there is wastage of resources (such as water). Moreover, there is no monitoring system installed on solar panel that informs about efficiency. Sometimes, there is rain that removes dust particles and there is no need of cleaning so, there can be over cleaning that is wastage of resources. The designed system monitored the efficiency of solar panel using voltage and current as measuring parameters and analyze the performance of solar panel for addressing the problem as soon as possible. After receiving the alert cleaning robot is designed for cleaning the solar panel. Arduino UNO is used for processing the data received from sensor and upload to “things and speaks” using ESP8266 that use TCP/IP protocol for transfer of data.
